About Us

The livestrong foundation works with non-paid interns, volunteers, psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors, researchers, and other professionals in charge of helping on events and support groups. They have won the OPT’s best non-profits to work for award in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and outside’s magazine 50 best places to work in, in 2011.

Livestrong has about 15 different programs, each one offering different support, but the focus on 4 aspects, how is the experience for people who have cancer, how its for their families, support for people who already went through this experience, and support and help for professionals that work with people that have cancer. These aspects are covered in all this programs and partnerships, which are based on “where you are in your cancer journey”. (just diagnosed, preparation, medical care, financial and insurance help, side effects of treatment, finishing treatment, etc.)


History 

Lance Amstrong founded Livestrong foundation in 1997, and since then its purpose has been to support people with cancer and also their families. At the beginning, this organization wanted to raise money to fight the disease, but it expanded and started to support more and more people while helping cancer research. In October 2012, after lance Armstrong’s doping scandal; he resigned as chairman of the foundation., but that didn’t had a very big impact on the organization, and nowadays works with activist, governments and provides free support in economic, emotional and physical aspects, to people with cancer.
